Inafune Did Not Say “Better Than Nothing” Japanese Interpreter Confirms

Just when you think the dust has settled on the Mighty No. 9 drama, this happens. Rumors quickly spread that director, Keiji Inafune, stated during Mighty No. 9’s launch stream that in its state the game “is better than nothing”. But that’s not how it went down.

Ben Judd, who has helping translate Keiji’s comments felt the need to add his own right after his translation stating even “at least that’s my own opinion”. People quickly interpreted this as Keiji’s comments or possibly Ben (it was confusing). This however did not stop gaming sites to capitalize on the Mighty No. 9 hate because journalism, amiright?

Members on Neo Gaf clarified that Keiji did not say that in Japanese and it was definitely Ben. Sadly, I feel the damage has been done. Keiji’s reputation has been quite sour ever since the poorly handled Red Ash Kickstarter popped up and he’s been under constant bombardment since. I wonder if he’ll keep making games after this?
