Tetsuya Nomura More or Less Confirms We Won’t Be Seeing KH 3 in 2017

Kingdom Hearts creator/director, Tetsuya Nomura, has taken to social to wish fans happy holidays and what to expect in 2017.

As mentioned in the video, 2017 marks the 15 year anniversary of the series. Yes, it’s hard to believe Kingdom Hearts 1 is that old. Damn, just thinking about it is making me wonder where the time went but I digress. In the video we hear name drops such as 2.8 HD is arriving in Jan followed by the 1.5 + 2.5 HD collection in March and then finally the concert tour. Sadly that’s all it seems we’re getting in 2017 with no release date or update on KH 3.

Keep in min that last E3 we were promised to get some info on KH 3 in winter which doesn’t seem to be happening either. I believe certain priorities might have shifted possibly to have Nomura focus on the FF 7 Remake Chapter 1 to have it ready in time for next year? This wold line up with a recent rumor that suggest the FF 7 Remake’s first chapter will arrive alongside the game’s 20th anniversary (which will also mark the 30th anniversary of the Final Fantasy franchise).

For now it’s best to wait and just enjoy the extra content of 2.8. Hopefully that will keep us going and set the stage for what will undoubtedly be the biggest entry in the series yet which will include another hit single by Utada.
