No, There Won’t Be a Kingdom Hearts 2.9

Kingdom Hearts fans have been edgy these past years. 2013 saw the debut of Kingdom Hearts 3, a sequel that fans have been waiting for since 2006. We’re now in 2016 and KH 3 is still [in development]. To make the wait easier Square have been dishing out remasters like no tomorrow with Kingdom Hearts 1.5, 2.5, and now recently 2.8. While these are good and all many fans are now seeing these as filler to Kingdom Hearts 3’s delay.

The .8 has also have people wondering that perhaps we’ll see a 2.9? Or maybe a 2.8796? Fret not. Brand manager Shinji Hashimoto has confirmed in an interview there won’t be a 2.9 and the series will go straight to 3 after 2.8.

THANK. FUCK.

If you’re wondering why the devs chose 2.8, well, there is a reason albeit confusing: the game was supposed to be called 2.6 (right after 2.5) but it included Backcover which takes place in the beginning so that counts as 0. Then we have Birth By Sleep which was 0.1 that eventually becomes Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep 0.2. Add the numbers up and it’s 2.8!

Now if you’ll excuse me I think I’m gonna go lie down.
